9 Innovative Products from Alcohol Brands

Design, for a brand, provides an effective way to differentiate and position a company’s products amidst increasing competition. It touches consumers’ rational minds and emotional hearts while providing functional and aesthetic value. In our visually-driven culture, it is critical to communicate brand meaning and positioning through design. Eye-catching form, color and graphics can help a product stand out from the competition.
For an Alcohol brand, a design can involve a bottle, a cork, a label, a packaging, a glass, a presenter or any relative products. Here are some nice designs from some alcohol brands in recent years.

Glenfiddich Cape of Unity Presenter
This art presentation designed by Trigger Design for Glenfiddich 50-year-old single malt whisky is to celebrate Singapore’s 50 anniversary of independence. It resembles a cape that gives a sense of protecting something precious and giving a majestic and graceful presence. The form is constructed using the pattern of Singapore’s Merlion scale, symbolizing the “unity” of different cultures, people, and religions of Singapore and also representing the spirit of authenticity, refinement and craftsmanship while producing Glenfiddich 50-year-old single malt whisky. White is used representing a pure spirit in contrast with polished copper finish with antlers.

Glenfiddich Suspended Time Box
This secondary packaging designed by Here Design for the Glenfiddich 30-Year-Old Whisky evokes the image of suspended time through moving ribbons, each one frozen in time to form elegant cut-out windows, revealing the decanter inside. The dynamic lines and complex structure create the illusion that the bottle is suspended, effortlessly, in mid-air. The case is made of laser-cut and embossed aluminum, with a silicon-lined section to protect the glass. The medallion on the case’s top is laser-etched, and the outer surface is sprayed to achieve an ombre effect.

Hennessy the X.O Limited Edition Pack
This decanter is designed by Dior and Fendi Artistic Director Kim Jones for the Hennessy X.O x Kim Jones collection, inspired by the art of cognac making, the bottle is enveloped in an aluminum second skin. The folds on the surface evoke couture draping and the tissue paper in which Hennessy bottles used to be wrapped to protect their parchment paper labels. The decanter, which was dipped in gradient colors to create an effect recalling the shades of the eaux-de-vie used to make the X.O., rests on an oak base in a nod to cognac barrels.

Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar Champagne Bottle
The Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar Champagne was developed for drinking in outer space by Mumm and SPADE. The packaging had to respect a complex set of constraints between AOC regulations and space conditions. In terms of materials, Mumm Cordon Rouge Stellar comes in a custom-made 37.5cl glass bottle contained inside a 70cl outer shell made of aeronautical-grade aluminum, which provides double security. The shell features screen-printed text and minimal engravings. Referred to as the “service part”, the bottle’s upper part is topped with a rounded, stainless steel locking mechanism that secures the traditional cork stopper. The Champagne is retained by the locking device, so the liquid only comes into contact with glass, stainless steel and cork, in keeping with AOC regulations.

Champagne Perrier-Jouët Pack
This Champagne pack for Champagne Perrier-Jouët is produced by James Cropper. The pack combines paper pulp with upcycled vine shoots that lend a speckled aesthetic. The box hugs the contours of the bottle, with a petal-like collar revealing the foil cap. Double debossing and a paper label decorate the pack. The label is offset printed in Pantone and finished with flexo and tactile varnish. Designed to obtain a perfect fit on the bottle, its shape and colors were worked to achieve a luxurious look without having to hot stamp the material. A debossed logo adorns the box’s double-locking clasp mechanism that closes with an audible snap. Only 49 grams.

Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Fridge Gift Box
This mini retro-style refrigerator-like gift box is designed in by SMEG for Champagne Veuve Cliquot. Made from pewter, a material that can be recycled ad infinitum. The plastic-free inner wedge is made from 100% sugarcane waste and is detachable for easy recycling and reuse. Its color matches the standard bottle of Yellow Label inside and keeps the bottle chilled for up to two hours.

Patrón en Lalique Série 3 Bottle
This bottle for Patrón Tequila was designed by crystal maker Lalique, which is the third collaboration in their Collectible series. The centerpiece of the packaging design is a decanter housing an extra añejo tequila described as an “artistic interpretation of the agave” of the agave plant and flower from the highlands of Jalisco in Mexico. After designs inspired by the iconic Patrón bottle and the Art Deco movement, this latest launch takes its cues from tequila ingredient Weber Blue Agave. The handmade crystal decanter in the shape of the Weber Blue Agave combines clear and frosted finishes, while the green-colored stopper is a nod to the agave flower

Bowmore ARC-52 Decanter
This decanter is designed by luxury carmaker Aston Martin for Bowmore Whisky. The hand-blown decanter, which is made in cosmetic-grade flint glass, balances on two points, making it seem almost suspended in mid-air. The organic curved form required a series of prototypes in order for the final decanter to be realized, which was achieved through asymmetrical glass blow and multiple mold parts. The lettering on the facing applied sandblast etching. The decanter is topped with a nickel-plated aluminum lid featuring a patented magnetic locking system, which is unlocked with a bespoke magnetic key. The lid is milled on a 5-axis CNC machine and decorated with a machine-routed Aston Martin logo and individual numbering.

Champagne Carbon La Bouteille Noire Presenter
La Bouteille Noire is made by luxury carmaker Bugatti and Champagne Carbon, which encases a 15-liter bottle in three layers of carbon fiber by IXO Carbon. For this case, clients can opt for the version that is a sculptural representation of either the Chiron, Divo, Bolide or Mistral car models, in their choice of paint or leather.
These brands communicate values consistent with their brands through unique designs. A good design will leave a deep impression on consumers while bringing them excellent aesthetic pleasure. May bring you inspiration for your brand.
